    CurseMagius

Post by Shine on Tue Sep 16, 2008 11:36 am

I wasn't gonna originally, but by Shade's request, I'm puttin' this up. I can't put it up in UU Discussion, so I figured I'd just put it up here.

    Mismagius @Leftovers
    -Curse
    -Pain Split
    -Substitute
    -Sucker Punch/Shadow Sneak
    Levitate, Jolly
    252 Spd, 252 Atk/Sp.Def

The idea behind this set is very simple, but surprisingly effective. Sub, Curse, Pain Split, do it all over again. If you like, you can even have a Liechi, Salac, or Lum Berry if you feel safe keeping your HP lower for better Pain Splits. This DESTROYS BP teams that aren't smart enough to switch out like a commoner rather than BP.

The biggest counters to this set include Gengar, Aerodactyl, Speed Deoxys, and good ole' fashioned switching. (All calcs assume Gengar's got max IVs in HP and Def, so results will likely be better than expected).

Gengar's just plain too fast and too strong. You have to get in that Sub BEFORE they come in, or they'll outrun you with Hypnosis, or worse, with Shadow Ball. Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch at Mismagius' Atk WILL NOT OHKO GENGAR. If you've got that Lum Berry bonus, you still need ONE Curse tick to OHKO with Shadow Sneak. Without it, you need at least two. Sadly, same goes for Sucker Punch. The only difference is that Sucker Punch isn't walled by Normal types. Basically, if you don't already have a Sub set up when Gengar comes out, and enough HP to Curse, you need to switch.

Aero's simply an incredibly quick Pokemon with Taunt and Crunch. By this point, you have been countered.

Speed Deoxys is even faster and has Taunt. Once again, you have been countered.

As for switches... If you can keep up that Sub while they switch like crazy, you're perfectly safe, because even if they switch to negate Curse damage, that Curse still got you low enough on HP that Pain Split will do quite a number. After that, a lot of it is just clean up with priority attacks. I don't know how Stealth Rock will affect it, so that's up to you... The more HP they come in with, the better, really, since that means more HP for you to sap with Pain Split, but you may wanna set up SR LATE game or MID game in that case.

Keep an eye out for priority users while they switch out, be prepared to lose Mismagius either way to a Pursuit, and watch out for potential Explosion users to switch her into. Wink

Yes but more Pokemon are common then others.
Ex. Most OU teams have Gengar.

If I failed to mention it earlier, it's a gimmick. It's VERY nichey, but it works when it needs to. Works best against BP teams, as Shade must know... Every BP team I faced with this on Shoddy has DC'd. Of course, they like to DC when I Roar, Whirlwind, Haze, Leech Seed, Taunt, or Psych Up, too.
